The Bonsmara industry is healthy and continues to grow year after year due to rational and financial reasons, which make sense especially when upholding a long term perspective.
At Boschoek Bonsmaras, we are experiencing increasing interest and engagement from both commercial and stud breeders, seeking quality genetics that can add value to their herds. For us, it is a privilege to share genetics with fellow breeders, as we understand and appreciate the tiresome journey of purposeful breeding and the rising costs involved in acquiring sought-after genetics.
Every breeder’s goal is to observe annual genetic progress in the new group of calves arriving. This year, we are once again experiencing that with gratitude at Boschoek. Investing in superior genetics from fellow breeders’ herds will always be part of our strategy, although the use of self-bred bulls must increasingly add value and demonstrate confidence in each herd’s breeding policy. Currently, the Phase-D and heifer group represent a good balance between own and fellow breeder genetics, and we are excited about the result of many years of building and investing in a strong genetic foundation.

By Boschoek Bonsmaras ervaar ons toenemend belangstelling en toenadering vanaf kommersiële en stoettelers, vir goeie genetika wat waarde in kuddes kan toevoeg. Vir ons is dit ‘n voorreg om genetika met medetelers te deel, want ons het begrip en ken die tydsame pad van doelgerigte teling en die toenemende koste in die verkryging van gesogte genetika.
Elke teler se mikpunt is tog om jaarliks genetiese vordering te sien in die nuwe groep kalwers wat aankom. Vanjaar beleef ons dit weereens met dankbaarheid by Boschoek. ‘n Belegging in meerdere genetika uit medetelers se kuddes sal altyd deel wees van ons strategie, alhoewel die gebruik van self geteelde bulle toenemend moet waarde toevoeg as vertroue in elke kudde se teelbeleid. Tans verteenwoordig die Fase-D en versgroep ‘n goeie balans tussen eie en medeteler genetika en is ons opgewonde oor die resultaat van baie jare se opbou en belegging in ‘n goeie genetika basis.
